The Role of the Osteopath – Not only to help your body deal with injury and pain, but also to encourage a healthy physiological motion in the body allowing you to achieve the perfect swing.

The Role of the Golf Professional – To coach you towards an idealistic swing. The techniques taught to you should minimise strain on your body and maximise the potential of your game.

If you are struggling to strike the ball well you may well need an osteopathy ‘MOT’ to get your body functioning to it’s best, follow this up with a decent lesson or two and you WILL be pleasantly suprised by the effects! You don’t have to be in pain to reap the benefits of osteopathy, prevention is by far better than cure!

Read more about Golfing Injuries:

Tilly produced a scientific paper on golfing injuries for her Masters in Osteopathy, the paper highlighted the points below:

Poor swing dynamics and injury
Golfers can sustain a number of varied injuries, the most common being to the lower back. These injuries are predominantly caused by an incorrect swing.

It is thought that the incidence of injuries could be reduced if an adequate regime prior to play was adopted and if players avoided carrying or pulling their bags awkwardly.

The golfer must learn to either prevent or manage their injury.

One preventative method is in the correction of poor swing mechanics, thus reducing unnecessary strain to vulnerable parts of the body. However, you may find that pain and stiffness in your joints will prevent you from achieving an effective swing.
