Unfortunately equestrian injuries are really common. Horses usually bring about a number of injuries either through the repetitive strain of their up keep or the more acute injuries of falls or kicks.
The Up Keep:
Keeping your horse(s) clean and fed is really quite strenuous on the body, not to mention rather one sided!
mucking out, leading out, hauling rugs and saddles about, carrying heavy bales of hay, feed and bedding, pushing full wheelbarrows through deep mud ….
To reward you for all of the hard work mentioned above, the horse usually finds at least one opportunity to throw you off, kick you or even stand on your foot.
Most horse riders will appreciate that if they ride unevenly the horse doesn’t move evenly, or even comfortably.
After all of the insults mentioned above, it unsurprising that most horse owners aren’t equally strong or balanced. This will affect the way your horse moves underneath you.
If you’re sensible you’ll visit an osteopath as soon as possible after a major injury, (providing nothing is broken), not only to speed up recovery but also to prevent compensatory movement patterns from establishing.your horse performs for you, so while you’re checking the saddle, the horses teeth and even the horses back for problems, consider yourself too.
Osteopathy can also help you’re body cope with all of those imbalanced repetitive strain injuries of day to day horse up keep by releasing tension, mobilising and specific exercise prescription.

I have been a patient of Tilly’s for a few years now and without her it would not be possible for me to ride at the top level.
I’ve always suffered from a bad back but struggled to find anyone who could help me. Tilly assesses and treats me as needed every time I visit her. She is extremely professional and I trust her 100%. I always leave feeling reassured that I will be in tip top shape, something that is so important in my sport.
Tilly’s riding experience gives her the extra knowledge of my injury and the importance of recovery. She always gives me extra help with stretches that I do at home to prevent further injury.
I can not recommend her enough, anyone who visits her will be truly impressed!!
